Essential Knowledge of Generator Usage Environment and Installation 1

Many purchasers have made comprehensive comparisons and inquiries in the early stage. However, purchasing a generator set is not the end of the work. After the purchase, they will still face problems such as how to install and use the generator. The Generator Knowledge Class of Dingbo Power will popularize knowledge for users about the precautions for the operating environment of diesel generator sets and the relevant installation methods.

1. Operating environment

The engine can operate normally at its rated power under standard reference conditions (absolute atmospheric pressure of 100 kPa, ambient temperature of 25 °C, and relative humidity of 30%).

If the engine needs to operate in an environment with a temperature below 0 °C, the user should prepare a low - temperature starting device to ensure normal operation. The user can also request the addition of a low - temperature starting device when placing an order.

When the environmental conditions are worse than the standard reference conditions (but the altitude does not exceed 2,500 meters), the engine can operate normally at the specified power (corrected power). For every 11 °C increase in temperature, the power decreases by 2%; for every 300 - meter increase in altitude, the power decreases by 4%. When the altitude exceeds 2,500 meters, users can contact the technical staff of Dingbo Power for assistance.

2. Storage and installation location

·Good ventilation: Ensure that the generator set has sufficient fresh air intake and exhaust to prevent heat and exhaust gas accumulation.

·Protection from the elements: The installation location should be sheltered from wind, rain, and sunlight to protect the components from rain, snow, floods, and direct sunlight.

·Avoid polluted air: Do not expose the engine to polluted air, such as grinding dust, smoke, and oil fumes, and avoid areas where objects may be pressed on the generator set.

3. Lifting of the generator set

·Single - engine lifting: When lifting a single engine, there are two lifting lugs on the engine for lifting. Appropriate - length steel cables and lifting equipment with sufficient lifting capacity must be used.

·Lifting the packaged engine assembly: The lifting points should be determined according to the markings on the packaging box.

Notes:

·The lifting rings on the engine cannot be used to lift the entire generator set.

Incorrect lifting methods or insufficient - capacity lifting equipment can cause serious personal injury or equipment damage.

Dingbo Power has advanced testing equipment, modern production technology, professional manufacturing technology, perfect quality management system, and strong technical research and development capabilities. Diesel Generator Power Ratings: Standby vs Prime vs Continuous

Diesel generator sets are commonly used in a variety of sectors due to their dependable performance and high efficiency. They can be used for emergency power supply in the event of a power cut or used in places without connection to a power grid. When selecting a diesel generator for your home or business, you need to consider many factors, such as generator’s ratings. In this article, we’ll explain the three basic rating types - standby, prime, and continuous in diesel generators. ISO-8528-1:2018 defines basic generator set rating categories based on four operational categories: Emergency Standby Power (ESP), Prime Power (PRP), Continuous Power (COP) and Limited-Time Running Prime (LTP). Read on and learn the application of power ratings for engines used in generating sets. Standby Power Rating Standby Power(ESP) is used to supply emergency power when the external power supply is interrupted, such as power outages. Standby power rated generators can supply reliable electricity as t...

What Should You Pay Attention to in Routine Maintenance of Diesel Generator Sets

In modern society, the stability of power supply is directly related to the operation efficiency of enterprises and people's quality of life. Diesel generators have become an indispensable backup power supply or main power source in various industries due to their high efficiency, durability and reliability. However, to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of the generator sets, regular maintenance is essential. Here is what you need to pay attention to in the routine maintenance of diesel generators. Keep your generator clean It’s important to keep the generator’s exterior and the generator room clean. Regularly remove any dirt, dust, or debris that may accumulate to on the generator’s surface. This is not only for the sake of beauty, but also for the smooth operation of the unit. Cleaning the generator’s exterior, air intake vents, exhaust outlets and generator room can effectively reduce the risk of generator overheating. In addition, check if the connection bol...
