The Function of Cummins Generator Set Water Temperature Gauge

The water temperature gauge is used to measure the temperature of the cooling water at the outlet pipe of the diesel generator's cylinder head and is an important accessory of the unit. This gauge can promptly reflect the water temperature of the cooling system and help understand the temperature of the cooling water when the diesel generator set is operating, enabling the diesel generator set to work at a normal temperature. The water temperature gauge can intuitively display the temperature of the water in the engine water tank, ensuring that the engine operates within an appropriate temperature range. Both excessively high and low water temperatures can affect the engine's performance. The water temperature gauge assembly consists of a sensor, a sensing wire, and a dial. The sensor is installed on the outlet pipe of the cylinder head, and the dial is installed on the instrument panel, with the two connected by a sensing wire.

It is most ideal for the cooling water temperature to be between 156°F and 195°F [74°C and 91°C]. At this time, the working parts of the engine expand uniformly, thus achieving the optimal oil - film clearance. The maximum temperature of the engine coolant must not exceed 200°F [93°C].

In both winter and summer, a thermostat must be installed in the diesel engine. Avoid long - term idling and take necessary steps to keep the cooling water temperature at a minimum of 165°F [74°C]. In cold climate conditions, if necessary, use radiator shutters to cover part of the radiator to prevent over - cooling.

Analysis of the fault of the water temperature gauge showing an excessively high temperature: Generally, cooling system faults mainly include liquid leakage, insufficient coolant, radiator fan malfunctions, and circulating water pump malfunctions.

From the above introduction, we know that the engine coolant temperature is neither the lower the better nor the higher the better; it needs to be within a certain range. After the diesel generator set is started, the temperature of the antifreeze rises rapidly. After the pointer reaches the central position, the heat exchange reaches a balance and the antifreeze temperature no longer rises. Generally, it is best to start when the temperature reaches the middle position, which is why the generator set needs to be pre - heated before starting. A 200kW Cummins generator set should be pre - heated before being powered on and started, just like a car before starting. For a 200kW Cummins generator set equipped with a pre - heater, whether to perform pre - heating operations can be determined according to the ambient temperature. The control panel with a pre - heating button can control the engine's starting heater to work to achieve the purpose of pre - heating.

The above is the introduction to the functions of the water temperature gauge for the 200kW Cummins diesel generator set, compiled by Dingbo Power, a generator manufacturer. Our company's Cummins generator sets are equipped with high - performance Cummins diesel engines and Stamford generators. They feature a Zhongzhi all - Chinese liquid crystal display module, which encompasses all the functions and configurations of a manual control panel, including automatic, stop, and manual operation modes.

There is a start - up delay function. The protection system is designed to trigger an alarm and shut down the generator in case of issues such as "overspeed, high water temperature, low oil pressure, under - frequency, phase loss, overload, start - up failure, output voltage malfunction, charging failure", etc. An emergency stop button is also provided.

Thanks to the excellent overall technical design, the production and assembly of these generator sets meet the technical requirements of international standards. They offer advantages such as more convenient operation, higher efficiency, lower fuel consumption, longer service life, and low - carbon environmental friendliness. What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (...

Perkins Powerful 4000 Series Engine at Middle East Electricity

The Perkins team returns to Middle East Electricity (MEE) in 2017 to promote the full range of its diesel and gas electric power engines. Taking pride of place is the 4000 Series platform, which is designed to provide prime or standby power in critical applications. The evolution of the Perkins 4000 Series The steady evolution of the powerful 4000 Series has taken place over a number of years, thanks to significant investment from Perkins. Its development means the engine is used for prime and standby applications by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users. The 4000 Series is tough and durable, provides consistent performance in the harshest conditions, and is proving to be a constant, reliable electric power source for prime applications all over the world. Perkins sells hundreds of 4000 Series engines every year into the prime power market. It has built more than 50,000 4000 Series engines for some of the world’s biggest businesses, and up to 30 pe...

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. The f...
