Knowledge of The Turbocharged Iintercooler System of Shangchai Generators

In the turbo - charged and inter - cooled system of a diesel generator, when the air is compressed during the turbo - charging process, its temperature and pressure increase simultaneously. Without inter - cooling, the intake air density is limited by the adiabatic efficiency of the compressor. When the diesel engine is highly turbo - charged with a large pressure ratio, the inter - cooling technology can be used to increase the intake air density. Therefore, being familiar with the knowledge of the turbo - charged and inter - cooled system, which is a basic component of the Shangchai generator, is crucial for the later use, maintenance, and upkeep of the generator set. The editor of Dingbo Power will share relevant professional knowledge about the turbo - charged and inter - cooled system of the generator set to help everyone use the diesel generator more easily.

Composition of the exhaust system of YC12VC series generator diesel engines

The exhaust system of YC12VC series generator diesel engines is mainly composed of the following components: left and right intake and exhaust pipes, left and right turbochargers, left and right inter - coolers, and related pipelines.

Working principle of the turbo - charged and inter - cooled system

All YC12VC series generator diesel engines are equipped with an independent turbo - charged and inter - cooled system. When the engine is working, the exhaust gas from the engine exhaust pipe enters the turbine. The thermal energy of the exhaust gas makes the turbine rotate, which in turn drives the compressor connected to the turbine. The compressor sucks in and compresses the air, and then the compressed air enters the engine intake pipe through the pipeline. The cooled and expanded exhaust gas leaving the turbine is guided from the turbine housing to the engine exhaust system and then released into the atmosphere.

Advantages of turbo - charging and inter - cooling

After the intake air is compressed, the density of the air charged into the cylinder increases. With the good cooperation of the fuel supply system, more fuel can be fully burned, which improves the power and enhances the fuel economy. Turbo - charging and inter - cooling further cool the compressed air, increasing the air density and the intake air volume, thereby further improving the power and reducing the temperature in the combustion chamber.

Turbocharger

The turbocharger is a high - speed and precision machine and should not be disassembled casually. If it malfunctions, it should be sent to a maintenance center for repair. The two turbochargers are identical, and they can be adjusted by changing the rotation angle.

Precautions for use

1.Keep the engine idling before the lubricating oil pressure is established: Before the lubricating oil pressure of the engine is established, keep the engine at an idle state.

2.Gradually reduce the temperature and speed before engine shutdown: Before shutting down the engine, let its temperature and speed gradually decrease from the maximum values.

3.Pre - lubricate the turbocharger: After changing the lubricating oil or performing any maintenance (including draining the lubricating oil), the turbocharger needs to be pre - lubricated. Crank the crankshaft several times before starting the engine. After starting the engine, let it idle for a while to establish the entire lubricating oil circulation pressure before entering high - speed operation.

4.Be cautious when starting the engine at low temperatures: When the ambient temperature is too low or the engine is restarted after a long - term shutdown, it will affect the normal establishment of the engine lubricating oil flow and oil pressure. In this case, let the engine idle for a few minutes after starting, and only enter the normal working state after the oil pressure is normal.

5.Avoid long - term idling of the engine: The idling time generally should not exceed 5 minutes.

Inter - cooler

The generator diesel engine is equipped with a water - tank inter - cooler component. The air from the turbocharger compressor does not directly enter the engine intake pipe. Instead, the turbo - charged air is led to the inter - cooler through a pipe for water - air cooling. Here, the compressed air is cooled, further increasing its density, which is beneficial for improving the engine power and performance. The two inter - coolers used in this machine are the same.

Diesel Generator Power Ratings: Standby vs Prime vs Continuous

Diesel generator sets are commonly used in a variety of sectors due to their dependable performance and high efficiency. They can be used for emergency power supply in the event of a power cut or used in places without connection to a power grid. When selecting a diesel generator for your home or business, you need to consider many factors, such as generator’s ratings. In this article, we’ll explain the three basic rating types - standby, prime, and continuous in diesel generators. ISO-8528-1:2018 defines basic generator set rating categories based on four operational categories: Emergency Standby Power (ESP), Prime Power (PRP), Continuous Power (COP) and Limited-Time Running Prime (LTP). Read on and learn the application of power ratings for engines used in generating sets. Standby Power Rating Standby Power(ESP) is used to supply emergency power when the external power supply is interrupted, such as power outages. Standby power rated generators can supply reliable electricity as t...

What Should You Pay Attention to in Routine Maintenance of Diesel Generator Sets

In modern society, the stability of power supply is directly related to the operation efficiency of enterprises and people's quality of life. Diesel generators have become an indispensable backup power supply or main power source in various industries due to their high efficiency, durability and reliability. However, to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of the generator sets, regular maintenance is essential. Here is what you need to pay attention to in the routine maintenance of diesel generators. Keep your generator clean It’s important to keep the generator’s exterior and the generator room clean. Regularly remove any dirt, dust, or debris that may accumulate to on the generator’s surface. This is not only for the sake of beauty, but also for the smooth operation of the unit. Cleaning the generator’s exterior, air intake vents, exhaust outlets and generator room can effectively reduce the risk of generator overheating. In addition, check if the connection bol...

How to Connect A Diesel Generator to Your House?

Diesel generators are fuel-efficient and reliable, which can almost meet the power needs of any application. If you want to power the whole house during power shortages, it’s a good choice to choose a diesel generator set as the backup electricity supply. But how to connect a diesel generator to your house? Read on and you will find the answer. Options to connect a diesel generator to your home   Keep in mind that never plug your generator directly into the mains, or it will cause back feeding, damage your appliances and be life-threatening for utility workers. Generally, you can choose to connect a generator to your house by using extension cords or a transfer switch. Understanding the difference between them is helpful for you to choose the right type. Extension cords   Typically, extension cords are suitable for smaller diesel generators that used for short term. They require no installation and are cost-effective. If you need to power only some basic appliances such as...
