How to Store Diesel for Diesel Generators?

With the progress of social development, many devices rely on electricity to operate. A power outage would undoubtedly have a significant impact on numerous enterprises. As a result, the demand for emergency and backup power sources has become increasingly widespread. However, as a complex and large - scale generator equipment, the post - use maintenance of diesel generator sets poses a challenge for many non - professional staff. Therefore, the Generator Knowledge Classroom of Dingbo Power is sharing knowledge about diesel storage tanks and diesel storage today to help everyone use diesel generator sets with ease.

1.Advantages and Disadvantages of Diesel Storage Tanks

(1) Iron Storage Tanks

Material: Generally made of steel plates about 3mm thick.

Advantages: They are not prone to deformation over the long term.

Disadvantages: They will rust after about three years of use.

(2) Stainless - Steel Storage Tanks

Material: Usually made of 304 stainless - steel plates about 1.2mm thick.

Advantages: They do not rust.

Disadvantages: They are prone to deformation.

To improve the utilization rate of diesel storage tanks, strict requirements apply when choosing their placement locations. Many recent incidents involving diesel tanks were caused by placing a large number of flammable and explosive items around them, increasing the potential hazards. When selecting a site for a diesel tank, multiple factors need to be considered. First, the site should be analyzed through quantitative risk assessment to ensure that it does not affect surrounding enterprises, factories, mines, and residential areas. The safety distance and risk should be within the limits allowed by the standards.

2.Storage Locations and Requirements for Diesel

Diesel is a flammable and explosive substance. Firstly, storage tanks should preferably not be placed in high - temperature areas or directly exposed to strong sunlight. Secondly, exposure to the intense summer sunlight should be avoided. Finally, there should be no flammable materials around the tank, and there should be no open flames or other sources of ignition within one meter of it.

3.Precautions

Fires and explosions caused by diesel occur frequently, and diesel is also toxic to the human body. To avoid accidents, the "Four Precautions" must be taken during diesel storage and use.

Anti - deterioration

During storage, diesel is prone to evaporation, oxidation, or contamination by impurities, which increases the gum content. This deteriorates the starting performance of diesel, accelerates the wear of engine parts, and shortens the service life of diesel engines.

Measures:

Keep the storage containers and diesel - adding oil drums clean.

To reduce the contact between diesel and air, store it in a sealed container and minimize unnecessary transfers.

Pay attention to sun protection, cooling, and temperature changes.

Fire and explosion prevention

Diesel is combustible, and its vapor can burn or explode when exposed to an open flame at 60°C. Pay attention to fire and explosion prevention during storage and use.

Measures:

There should be no flammable materials around the storage tank.

Cut off the sources of ignition. During loading, unloading, and refueling, control the flow of ignition sources and avoid open - flame operations. Do not use iron tools to strike the tank lids.

What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (...

Perkins Powerful 4000 Series Engine at Middle East Electricity

The Perkins team returns to Middle East Electricity (MEE) in 2017 to promote the full range of its diesel and gas electric power engines. Taking pride of place is the 4000 Series platform, which is designed to provide prime or standby power in critical applications. The evolution of the Perkins 4000 Series The steady evolution of the powerful 4000 Series has taken place over a number of years, thanks to significant investment from Perkins. Its development means the engine is used for prime and standby applications by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users. The 4000 Series is tough and durable, provides consistent performance in the harshest conditions, and is proving to be a constant, reliable electric power source for prime applications all over the world. Perkins sells hundreds of 4000 Series engines every year into the prime power market. It has built more than 50,000 4000 Series engines for some of the world’s biggest businesses, and up to 30 pe...

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. The f...
