The Function of The Dashboard for Diesel Generator Sets

Diesel generator sets have a large capacity, can operate in parallel and provide continuous power supply for a long time. They can also operate independently without parallel operation with the regional power grid, and are not affected by power grid failures, resulting in high reliability. Especially for some areas where the commonly used mains power is not very reliable, Guangxi diesel generator manufacturer Dingbo Power recommends using diesel generator sets as backup power sources. They can not only serve as emergency power sources, but also optimize the low-voltage system to use some important loads during power outages. Therefore, they are widely used in engineering fields such as petrochemicals, railways, engineering, industrial and mining enterprises, hotels, and real estate.

In the domestic market, diesel generator sets are equipped with instrument panels. The instruments installed on the instrument panel mainly include charging ammeter, oil pressure gauge, oil temperature gauge, water temperature gauge, and tachometer. The purpose is for diesel generator set managers to observe and understand the working condition of the diesel generator set. Guangxi diesel generator manufacturer Dingbo Electric briefly introduces the use and maintenance of the diesel generator set instrument panel.

Charging ammeter: The diesel generator set charging ammeter can display the magnitude of the battery charging current and discharging current, and can also be used to determine whether there is a fault in the silicon rectifier AC generator and regulator. The "+" terminal of an ammeter is generally connected to the "+" terminal of a charging generator or the armature terminal of a regulator, while the "-" terminal is generally connected to the battery terminal of an electromagnetic switch. A diesel generator set that starts with a battery is generally equipped with an ammeter of (-20--+20) specification on the dashboard; A diesel generator set that starts with two batteries is generally equipped with an ammeter of (-30~+30) specification on the dashboard.

Oil pressure gauge: The oil pressure gauge is used to detect the oil pressure in the main oil passage of a diesel generator set. At present, the most commonly installed electric oil pressure gauge on the dashboard of diesel generator sets is composed of sensors, information sensing wires, and pressure gauges. The oil pressure sensor is installed on the cylinder block and connected to the main oil passage of the oil. The pressure dial is installed on the instrument panel, and the information sensing wire is used to connect the pressure dial and the sensor.

Oil temperature gauge: The oil temperature gauge is used to measure the temperature of the oil inside the oil pan of a diesel generator set. There are two types of oil temperature gauges: hot spot type and resistance type. Currently, the most commonly used is the electric oil temperature gauge, which consists of a temperature sensor, a dial, and sensor wires.

Tachometer: A tachometer is used to detect the number of revolutions per minute during the operation of a diesel generator set. There are two types of tachometers: mechanical and electric.

Water temperature gauge: The water temperature gauge is used to measure the temperature of the cooling water in the cylinder head outlet pipe of a diesel generator set. This table can be used to understand the maximum and minimum temperatures of the cooling water during the operation of the diesel generator set, as well as the composition of the water temperature gauge assembly sensor, sensing wires, and dial. The sensor is installed on the cylinder head outlet pipe, and the dial is installed on the instrument panel, connected by sensing wires between the two.

Diesel Generator Power Ratings: Standby vs Prime vs Continuous

Diesel generator sets are commonly used in a variety of sectors due to their dependable performance and high efficiency. They can be used for emergency power supply in the event of a power cut or used in places without connection to a power grid. When selecting a diesel generator for your home or business, you need to consider many factors, such as generator’s ratings. In this article, we’ll explain the three basic rating types - standby, prime, and continuous in diesel generators. ISO-8528-1:2018 defines basic generator set rating categories based on four operational categories: Emergency Standby Power (ESP), Prime Power (PRP), Continuous Power (COP) and Limited-Time Running Prime (LTP). Read on and learn the application of power ratings for engines used in generating sets. Standby Power Rating Standby Power(ESP) is used to supply emergency power when the external power supply is interrupted, such as power outages. Standby power rated generators can supply reliable electricity as t...

How to Connect A Diesel Generator to Your House?

Diesel generators are fuel-efficient and reliable, which can almost meet the power needs of any application. If you want to power the whole house during power shortages, it’s a good choice to choose a diesel generator set as the backup electricity supply. But how to connect a diesel generator to your house? Read on and you will find the answer. Options to connect a diesel generator to your home   Keep in mind that never plug your generator directly into the mains, or it will cause back feeding, damage your appliances and be life-threatening for utility workers. Generally, you can choose to connect a generator to your house by using extension cords or a transfer switch. Understanding the difference between them is helpful for you to choose the right type. Extension cords   Typically, extension cords are suitable for smaller diesel generators that used for short term. They require no installation and are cost-effective. If you need to power only some basic appliances such as...

What Should You Pay Attention to in Routine Maintenance of Diesel Generator Sets

In modern society, the stability of power supply is directly related to the operation efficiency of enterprises and people's quality of life. Diesel generators have become an indispensable backup power supply or main power source in various industries due to their high efficiency, durability and reliability. However, to ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of the generator sets, regular maintenance is essential. Here is what you need to pay attention to in the routine maintenance of diesel generators. Keep your generator clean It’s important to keep the generator’s exterior and the generator room clean. Regularly remove any dirt, dust, or debris that may accumulate to on the generator’s surface. This is not only for the sake of beauty, but also for the smooth operation of the unit. Cleaning the generator’s exterior, air intake vents, exhaust outlets and generator room can effectively reduce the risk of generator overheating. In addition, check if the connection bol...
