Would You be Afraid of a Diesel Generator Getting Wet from the Rain

Summer weather is hot, there are many thunderstorms, and diesel generators are often used outdoors, so it is a common phenomenon for diesel generator sets to be drenched by rain.

After the diesel generator was rained out, many users are most worried about the question of whether the diesel generator after being rained out affects power generation. Today Dingbo Power answer this question for you. This is divided into two cases, one case is the diesel generator set did not enter the water, this is relatively simple, only need to use water to rinse off the diesel generator set appearance of dust and impurities. Another situation is the diesel generator set into the water, this situation is slightly more complex, there are the following ways to deal with:

1. Rinse the exterior of the diesel engine with water to remove soil and debris, and then use a metal cleaner or laundry detergent to remove oil from the surface.

2. Support one end of the diesel engine so that the oil pan drain area is at the lowest position. Unscrew the oil drain plug, pull out the oil dipstick, and allow the water in the oil pan to flow out on its own. When the oil is about to be drained, slightly let the oil and water drain together before screwing on the drain plug.

3. Remove the air filter of the generator set, remove the upper shell of the filter, remove the filter element and other components, remove the water from the filter, and clean all parts with metal cleaning agent or diesel. If the filter is made of plastic foam, wash it with detergent or soapy water (gasoline is not allowed), then rinse it with clean water, dry it in the air, and then soak it with appropriate amount of engine oil (squeeze it with your hands after soaking). When installing a new filter, oil immersion should also be performed. The filter element is made of paper and needs to be replaced with a new one. After cleaning and drying all parts of the filter, install them according to regulations.

4. Remove the intake and exhaust pipes and mufflers to drain any internal water. Open the pressure reducing valve, rotate the diesel engine, and check if there is water discharged from the intake and exhaust ports. If there is water discharged, continue to rotate the crankshaft until all water in the cylinder is discharged. Install the intake and exhaust pipes and muffler, add a little engine oil to the intake port, rotate the crankshaft several times, and then install the air filter. If the diesel engine has been flooded for a long time and the flywheel is difficult to rotate, it indicates that the cylinder liner and piston ring have rusted. They should be removed and cleaned before assembly. If the rust is severe, it should be replaced in a timely manner.

5. Remove the fuel tank and drain all the oil and water inside. Check if there is water in the diesel filter and oil pipe, and if there is water, drain it thoroughly. Clean the fuel tank and diesel filter, then reinstall them, connect the oil circuit, and add clean diesel to the fuel tank.

6. Drain the sewage from the water tank and waterway, clean the waterway, and add clean river water or boiled well water until the water float rises. Turn on the throttle switch and start the diesel engine. After starting the diesel engine, it is necessary to observe the rise of the oil indicator and listen for any abnormal noise from the diesel engine. After checking whether all parts are normal, the diesel engine is run in. The running in sequence is to start at idle speed, then at medium speed, and then at high speed, with a running time of 5 minutes each. After running in, stop the machine and drain the oil. Add new engine oil, start the diesel engine, and run it at medium speed for 5 minutes to start normal use.

What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (...

Perkins Powerful 4000 Series Engine at Middle East Electricity

The Perkins team returns to Middle East Electricity (MEE) in 2017 to promote the full range of its diesel and gas electric power engines. Taking pride of place is the 4000 Series platform, which is designed to provide prime or standby power in critical applications. The evolution of the Perkins 4000 Series The steady evolution of the powerful 4000 Series has taken place over a number of years, thanks to significant investment from Perkins. Its development means the engine is used for prime and standby applications by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end-users. The 4000 Series is tough and durable, provides consistent performance in the harshest conditions, and is proving to be a constant, reliable electric power source for prime applications all over the world. Perkins sells hundreds of 4000 Series engines every year into the prime power market. It has built more than 50,000 4000 Series engines for some of the world’s biggest businesses, and up to 30 pe...

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. The f...
