ATS stands for Automatic Converter. The ATS control cabinet is mainly used in the automation system of the emergency power supply system, which automatically switches the load circuit from one power supply to another (backup) power supply to ensure the continuous and reliable operation of important loads. Therefore, ATS automatic control cabinets are often used as important places for electricity consumption, and the reliability of their products is particularly important. After a failed conversion, there are two dangers that arise:

 

The serious consequences are short circuits or power outages (even short circuits) on important loads. This situation not only causes economic losses (shutdown and financial paralysis), but also causes social problems (endangering life and safety). So, automatic control cabinets generally consist of switches and controllers. Switches are divided into computer level (integration level) and computer level (circuit breaker).

 

Computer proficiency: Single piece structure (three-point structure). This machine is a dedicated switch for dual power switching. The machine has a simple structure, small size, self-locking function, fast switching speed (within 0.2s), safety and reliability, but is equipped with a short circuit protection device.

 

CB level: ATS is equipped with overcurrent tripping, and the main contact can be connected to cut off short-circuit current. It consists of a circuit breaker and mechanical interlocking, and has the function of short circuit protection.

 

It mainly detects the working status of the monitored power supply (two circuits). If there is a power failure, such as phase loss, undervoltage, voltage loss, or frequency deviation, the controller will issue an action command and automatically switch from one power source to another. The capacity of a backup power supply is generally only 20% to 30% of that of a regular power supply.

 

At present, when users purchase diesel generator sets, they generally hope to install ATS automatic control cabinets. They think it's more convenient and doesn't require manual operation. However, there are now many types of ATS cabinets. One is a handmade ATS cabinet. The unit is a regular unit, and the ATS is a regular unit. When the mains power is stopped, the generator must be operated by hand. When the generator set is operating normally, manually press the switch button on the ATS panel. Although this method is quite cumbersome, the generator set and switchgear are not easily damaged. The second is the commonly used automatic switchgear. The unit adopts conventional automation. Simply add the electric throttle and electric switch to a regular coat. The switchgear is also a regular switchgear. This switch is relatively cheap, but has a high failure rate. So when choosing ATS, it is recommended to choose a fully automatic control cabinet. This type of ATS has an extremely low failure rate, and the prices of automatic diesel generator sets and automatic switchgear are generally high.
