3 Major Usage Instructions for VOLVO Diesel Generator Sets

1. Main performance of Volvo diesel generator sets

 

(1) The Volvo diesel generator set has a static voltage adjustment rate of ≤ 5% under three-phase symmetrical load at 0-100% rated power and power factor COS=0.8-1. It can be adjusted within the range of 95% -105% rated voltage when unloaded.

 

(2) When the Volvo diesel generator set operates under three-phase symmetrical load conditions, if each current does not exceed the rated value and the difference in three-phase current does not exceed 20%, the set can operate for a long time.

 

(3) When the output of a Volvo diesel generator set undergoes a sudden or gradual change from 0 to 100% rated power under three-phase symmetrical loads, the voltage stability time shall not exceed 3 seconds.

 

2. Introduction to the structure of Volvo diesel generator sets

 

The Volvo diesel generator sets are all sliding type, without an outer cover structure, composed of a diesel engine, generator, control screen, coupling, and chassis.

 

Except for the control screen, all other components are installed on the same chassis welded with steel and steel plates, making it easy to move and install.

 

An elastic steel plate coupling is used between the diesel engine and the generator to ensure that the unit has a buffering and shock-absorbing effect when subjected to sudden load changes and impacts.

 

The VOLVO diesel engines used in Volvo diesel generator sets are mainly 5L, 7L, 9L, 12L, and 16L diesel engines. The main structure can be found in the corresponding user manual.

 

The main generators used in Volvo diesel generator sets are TFW series and MP series brushless three-phase AC synchronous generators.

 

Several types of generators have reliable operating quality and excellent dynamic performance.

 

The control screen is independent or integrated, welded from steel plates and angle steel. There are front and rear doors for easy inspection and maintenance, and various measuring instruments, conversion switches, voltage regulators, signal lights, and buttons are installed on the front door of the control screen. The screen is equipped with automatic air circuit breakers, instrument transformers, etc.

 

For units with parallel requirements, various devices required for parallel operation are also installed inside the screen.

 

3. Environmental requirements for Volvo diesel generator sets

 

The direction of the Volvo diesel generating set is clockwise when viewed from the end of the radiator.

 

(1) The rated power of Volvo diesel generator set refers to the 12 hour continuous operation rate at atmospheric pressure of 100kPa, room temperature of 20 ℃, and relative temperature of 60%. (Allowing 10% overload for 1 hour of operation)

 

(2) When the Volvo diesel generator set is continuously used for more than 12 hours, its output power is converted to 90% of the rated power.

 

(3) When Volvo diesel generator sets are used at different atmospheric pressures, ambient temperatures, and relative temperatures, the output power should be corrected according to regulations.
