500 KW Cummins Generator Set PT Pump Fuel Outlet Pressure Adjustment

The PT pump fuel injection system of a 500 KW Cummins generator set is superior to the inline pump fuel injection system and the distribution pump fuel injection system in terms of power, economy, and environmental protection.

The PT pump fuel injection system is a specialized fuel injection system for Cummins K series, N series and other models, and there is already an electronically controlled PT fuel injection system. There are three methods for adjusting the fuel outlet pressure of the PT fuel pump of a 500 KW Cummins generator set. Specifically, as follows:

1. Using a diesel generator and a dynamometer to load the diesel engine, first check the speed at the disconnection point of the governor. When the throttle valve is fully open, increase the load to the rated speed of the diesel engine and observe the outlet pressure of the fuel. When the pressure is below or above the limit value, adjust it according to the following methods: unscrew the maximum opening adjustment screw of the throttle valve, remove the shaft of the throttle valve, and add an appropriate thickness of gasket to increase the pressure. Remove the appropriate thickness of gasket from the throttle valve to reduce the pressure. Under no circumstances should the fuel outlet pressure of the PT fuel pump be adjusted beyond the maximum specified value.

2. When the throttle valve is fully open, check the maximum pressure at the fuel outlet in sequence from low speed to high speed through the transmission. If the pressure is lower than the minimum value specified by the machine or higher than the maximum value specified, it should be adjusted according to Method 1.

3. Pressure check method. This method is not as precise as methods 1 and 2, but it is relatively simple. That is, unscrew the oil cut-off solenoid valve and install a pressure gauge, remove the connecting piece on the throttle valve rocker arm (throttle rocker arm), and turn the throttle valve rocker arm clockwise to the end; Start the diesel engine and run it at a speed 250r/min higher than idle speed; Then accelerate rapidly to the maximum speed of the diesel generator and check the instantaneous pressure reading on the pressure gauge. If it does not match the specified value, the adjustment method is as described in Method 1. After checking and adjusting, the pressure gauge should be removed, the oil cut-off solenoid valve should be reinstalled, and the pipeline flowing through the smoke limiter should be blocked.

The supply pressure of the Cummins generator PT fuel pump or the inlet pressure of the fuel injector depends on the opening of the throttle valve in the PT pump and the outlet pressure of the governor. When the opening of the throttle valve is constant, the supply pressure of the fuel pump increases or decreases with the increase or decrease of the outlet pressure of the governor. The oil pressure increases or decreases with the increase or decrease of centrifugal force on the governor flying block, and the magnitude of centrifugal force increases or decreases with the increase or decrease of diesel engine speed. Therefore, when the opening of the throttle valve remains constant, under different diesel engine loads, the combined effect of fuel supply pressure and time keeps the diesel engine speed basically unchanged.

What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. Types of Diesel Engine and Application of Diesel Generator

This article will guide you to learn diesel engine types and important role of diesel generator. If you are interested, please keep reading.  What Are Diesel Engines? A type of internal combustion engine more accurately known as a compression ignition engine is designed to provide power by compressing the fuel at high temperature and significant pressure until it ignites. Diesel engines are either two-stroke or four-stroke .   ‘Stroke’ means the movement of the piston in the engine. Two-stroke This engine uses one stroke in each direction.   The first stroke being compression, which results in the ignition of the compressed fuel.   The return stroke brings new fuel into the cylinder. Four-stroke This engine has one compression stroke and one exhaust stroke and each one of those has a return stroke – hence, four-stroke. The compression stroke compresses the fuel/air mixture prior to ignition.   The exhaust stroke pushes the burnt gases out the exhaust. The
