Reasons for Speed Reduction of Diesel Generator Sets During Operation

Regarding the reason for the speed reduction when using Cummins diesel generator sets, we first need to eliminate the oil circuit problem, so we need to check the low-pressure oil circuit first. Upon inspection, it was found that the low-pressure oil circuit is normal. If the oil-water separator is replaced, the situation still cannot be improved. Later on, it was thought that if there was a problem with the low-pressure oil circuit, an error would definitely be reported. So, we need to consider how to correctly use the fault of the intake pipe of the 200 kw Cummins diesel generator set. After unplugging the air flow meter, it will not lower the idle speed, but can also increase the speed (the acceleration is a bit slow).

Check the air filter of the Cummins diesel generator set to see if it is too dirty. Blow the air filter clean, install it, and test it. When the throttle is released, black smoke will appear. Even if the air filter is not installed for testing, releasing the throttle will still emit black smoke. There are still issues with other components of the intake system; I have checked the turbocharger and EGR valve, and they are all normal. When checking the intake system, it was found that the pipeline from the intercooler to the intake pipe had completely fallen off. After tightening the clamp, the problem was resolved.


Cause analysis: The air filter is too dirty, resulting in insufficient intake air flow. The intake air flow measured by the air flow meter is low, and the ECU limits the oil quantity. After unplugging the air flow meter, the ECU uses an air flow replacement value for fuel injection, which can increase the speed. Due to the low actual intake volume, the acceleration is slow.
