Oil Leakage of Crankshaft Oil Seal of Cummins Diesel Generating Set

The front oil seal of the crankshaft of the Cummins diesel generator set has oil leakage fault, so why does the oil seal oil leakage fault occur when the Cummins diesel generator set has not been running for a long time? In this article, Dingbo Power Generation Equipment will provide users with a brief analysis, and the specific content is as follows:

Cummins 250 kw diesel generator

The front oil seal of the crankshaft of the Cummins diesel generator set leaks oil, which is an oil seal fault. It is impossible to prevent oil leakage. Although the oil leakage rate is not high among the multiple oil seals of the Cummins diesel generator set engine, it is also very cheap, but there are many replacement and disassembly parts, and the labor cost is high, which is a typical minor ailment. So, the reasons for its failure have been analyzed by engineers, but there are only three points.

(1) The aging oil seal of Cummins diesel generator set engine can only be a rubber product in Cummins diesel generator set engine accessories. Rubber products are used in engine components with good toughness and economic practicality, but they cannot achieve breakthroughs in service life, which is also an obstacle that rubber products cannot overcome. In addition, the crankshaft oil seal is often exposed to high temperatures while the engine is running, which accelerates its own aging and can lead to a certain period of time when it becomes unstable.

(2) The oil leakage of the additional grinding oil seal caused by the substandard oil used by the engine of Cummins diesel generator set seems to have nothing to do with the oil, but the quality of the oil determines whether the oil seal will be damaged prematurely. As for the front oil seal of the crankshaft, its inner diameter is usually smaller than the outer diameter of the front part of the crankshaft. The oil seal cannot guarantee oil leakage due to its own elasticity, so a spring is added around the inner diameter to protect the oil with the force of the spring. This creates friction with the crankshaft, and with the high-speed operation of the engine, once the oil is not qualified, the lubrication performance decreases, There will be dry wear between the inner diameter of the oil seal and the front of the crankshaft. Many times, when we remove the oil seal, there will be a shallow mark in the position of the oil seal.

(3) The uncertain position of external forces determines the risk. The position of the crankshaft front oil seal is prone to damage and oil leakage caused by uncertain factors. Through our observation of replacing the crankshaft front oil seal in recent years, the first factor is that the debris and dust from the belt adhere to the inner diameter of the oil seal, which allows these debris to be seized and cause accidental wear and oil leakage; The entanglement caused by floating objects during wading directly causes oil seal damage and oil leakage.

The above is the reason why Cummins diesel generator set engine crankshaft oil seal oil leakage fault was analyzed by Dingbo Power Generation Equipment for the majority of unit users. Finally, Dingbo Power Generation Equipment kindly reminds the majority of users that once the crankshaft oil seal oil leakage is found, Cummins diesel generator set engine may be short of oil and wear, and the outflow of oil will also be a safety hazard for the entire machine room. So, regular inspection is very important.

What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. Types of Diesel Engine and Application of Diesel Generator

This article will guide you to learn diesel engine types and important role of diesel generator. If you are interested, please keep reading.  What Are Diesel Engines? A type of internal combustion engine more accurately known as a compression ignition engine is designed to provide power by compressing the fuel at high temperature and significant pressure until it ignites. Diesel engines are either two-stroke or four-stroke .   ‘Stroke’ means the movement of the piston in the engine. Two-stroke This engine uses one stroke in each direction.   The first stroke being compression, which results in the ignition of the compressed fuel.   The return stroke brings new fuel into the cylinder. Four-stroke This engine has one compression stroke and one exhaust stroke and each one of those has a return stroke – hence, four-stroke. The compression stroke compresses the fuel/air mixture prior to ignition.   The exhaust stroke pushes the burnt gases out the exhaust. The
