Why is it Important to Regularly Maintain Diesel Generator Sets

As a user, I believe that when you purchase a diesel generator set, the generator manufacturer must have emphasized to you that you need to maintain the diesel generator set regularly, so you know why it is very important to maintain the diesel generator set regularly. Is it important? In this article, Jiangsu Starlight Electricity Equipments Co.,Ltd. will tell you the reasons for this from the engine oil.

Most people don't know that engine oil can degrade over time even when the engine is not running at all. If the life expectancy is 1 year, it doesn't mean it can maintain 100% quality in a year. It started to degenerate from day one, but still reached acceptable tolerance levels after a year.

Now, if you extend your service interval to 18 months, that doesn't mean your oil is half as good as new, because you've exceeded the recommended 50% change. Oil does not degrade linearly, which means it may retain its usefulness and then suddenly lose 90% of its lubricating power and other properties.

Due to the nature of using a diesel generator, it rarely runs. Yes, it may run weekly, but that's not enough to burn pollutants in the oil. It is common to see a milky white and jelly-like consistency in the oil when diesel generator specialists carry out annual repairs on these units. This is caused by condensation in the crankcase, which is not uncommon in backup diesel generators.

In China's climate, we can see temperature changes from morning to night. Cold mornings and warm afternoons can cause condensation, and water can settle in the crankcase of the generator. The difference with a generator is that it runs very rarely, so it doesn't reach temperature and stay there long enough to burn water and other contaminants from the oil. If left for too long you should have a clean honey brown oil which is a white milky substance that doesn't work or protect the engine and is difficult to drain from the unit.

As you can see, diesel is a great reason to regularly maintain the health of your backup generators, but there's more.

During the annual maintenance, in addition to changing the oil and oil filter, the technician will also change the air filter and spark plugs as needed, which often happens during the annual maintenance. The technician will also update the onboard firmware and evaluate any work that may have been possible since the last service.

Additionally, the technician will lubricate the mixer components, hinges and locks and clean the equipment from the inside out. General inspections of equipment are included in annual maintenance and go a long way. A generator technician will also test your battery under load (the only proper way to test a battery) and make sure it's good for the coming year. If your unit is liquid cooled, in addition to all of the above, we will service the liquid cooling components and replenish the liquid.

Regular maintenance of the standby diesel generator set can ensure its stable performance, prolong the service life of the generator set and reduce the operating cost of customers.

Jiangsu Starlight Electricity Equipments Co.,Ltd. is one of the earliest manufacturers of generators and diesel generator sets in China. What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. Types of Diesel Engine and Application of Diesel Generator

This article will guide you to learn diesel engine types and important role of diesel generator. If you are interested, please keep reading.  What Are Diesel Engines? A type of internal combustion engine more accurately known as a compression ignition engine is designed to provide power by compressing the fuel at high temperature and significant pressure until it ignites. Diesel engines are either two-stroke or four-stroke .   ‘Stroke’ means the movement of the piston in the engine. Two-stroke This engine uses one stroke in each direction.   The first stroke being compression, which results in the ignition of the compressed fuel.   The return stroke brings new fuel into the cylinder. Four-stroke This engine has one compression stroke and one exhaust stroke and each one of those has a return stroke – hence, four-stroke. The compression stroke compresses the fuel/air mixture prior to ignition.   The exhaust stroke pushes the burnt gases out the exhaust. The
