How to Operate Emergency Diesel Generator?

As a backup power source, emergency diesel generator provides AC power to the load in case of main power failure, ensuring continuous power supply of the load. It is widely used in various industries such as communication, coal mine, etc., and various faults occurred in the operation of the diesel generator set. Most of them are caused by untimely, inoperative or improper operation of the operation manager.

Emergency Diesel Generator Start-up Operation

Release the "emergency stop" button on the control panel.

Turn the power switch knob on the control panel to the “ON” position, the power indicator light is red, and the generator's controller power is on and displays normally.

Press the manual button on the generator controller panel, the indicator on the manual button lights up, and a palm is displayed in the lower right corner of the LCD screen. This is the manual start mode.

Press the start button on the generator controller panel to start the generator, the generator start indicator lights up, and the LCD screen shows that the three-phase voltage rises from 0V to 230V.

Check the generator for abnormal noise or vibration, whether there is oil leakage, water leakage or air leakage, and whether the control panel displays abnormality.

After confirming that the generator power output has stabilized at about 230V, close the generator control cabinet output circuit breaker, and the diesel generator starts normal power supply.

Emergency Power Output Operation

Check the emergency power supply incoming cabinet breaker, the voltage output shows about 230V, and check that the output status of each feeder circuit is normal.

Operation of Emergency Power Distribution Cabinet in Each Substation

Check and confirm that the incoming power supply of the emergency power distribution cabinet of each substation has been cut to the generator power supply state (backup power supply).

If ATS is not switched to the standby power state, the ATS control switch is cut to the manual state, and the special handle is used to manually switch to the standby power supply state (generator power supply).

Check the normal power supply status of each feeder circuit of the emergency power distribution cabinet.

After the diesel generator is working normally, it is necessary to check the running state of the generator and the output current, voltage and other parameters.

Emergency Diesel Generator Shutdown Operation

Confirm that the incoming power supply of the emergency power distribution cabinet of each substation has been cut to the mains power supply (common power supply).

Confirm that the load has completely exited and disconnect the generator emergency power inlet cabinet circuit breaker.

Disconnect the generator control cabinet output main circuit breaker.

Make sure that the generator is cooled for about 3 minutes at idle speed, then press the stop button on the generator controller panel, the stop button indicator lights up, and the generator stops normally.

If there is an emergency to stop the generator, you can not turn off the generator control cabinet output circuit breaker, directly press the red "emergency stop" button on the controller panel, and the generator will stop in an emergency.

After confirming that the generator is stopped, turn the power switch knob on the control panel to the “off” position, the power indicator light is off, and press the “emergency stop” button to complete the shutdown of the diesel generator.

Notes:

When the diesel generator is running at no load, it shall not exceed 5 minutes.
Do not take off the battery during the operation of the diesel generator to avoid the damage of electronic components.
Do not open the lid of the water tank before the diesel generator set is cooled to prevent scalds.

What Is the Difference Between Electric Motor and Electric Generator

An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. Most electric motors operate through the interaction between the motor's magnetic field and winding currents to generate force. In certain applications, such as in regenerative braking with traction motors, electric motors can be used in reverse as generators to recover energy that might otherwise be lost as heat and friction. An electric generator operates in the reverse direction, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. Electric generator can be divided into various type, open type, silent type, trailer type, portable type and container type, etc. Electric generator is mainly composed of diesel engine & alternator. Electric generator set is mainly composed of engine, alternator, control module, and common base. Electric generator :- Electric generator is a type of machine which converts mechanical input (energy) into electrical output (

Engine Fault Code Messages - Volvo Penta Engine

Volvo Penta Engine Fault Code When a malfunction has occurred and the diagnostic system has generated one or more fault codes, these are read out differently depending on the equipment used. Please refer to “Fault code messages”. If the system indicates that a fault code has been set: 1 Cut engine speed to idle, or shut the Volvo engine off. 2 For DCU/DU Read the fault code from the display, please refer to Reading fault codes via the DCU or Reading fault codes via the DU. For CIU press the diagnostic button and read the fault code, by observing the flashing of the diagnostic lamp. Refer to Reading fault codes via the diagnostic lamp, CIU. 3 Look up the fault code in the Fault Code Register chapter and take the recommended measures. Reading fault codes via the DU (Display Unit) Depending on the severity of the fault the text, either WARNING! or ALARM STOP (a buzzer sounds) will be shown on the display 1 Press any button to come to the fault list. Types of Diesel Engine and Application of Diesel Generator

This article will guide you to learn diesel engine types and important role of diesel generator. If you are interested, please keep reading.  What Are Diesel Engines? A type of internal combustion engine more accurately known as a compression ignition engine is designed to provide power by compressing the fuel at high temperature and significant pressure until it ignites. Diesel engines are either two-stroke or four-stroke .   ‘Stroke’ means the movement of the piston in the engine. Two-stroke This engine uses one stroke in each direction.   The first stroke being compression, which results in the ignition of the compressed fuel.   The return stroke brings new fuel into the cylinder. Four-stroke This engine has one compression stroke and one exhaust stroke and each one of those has a return stroke – hence, four-stroke. The compression stroke compresses the fuel/air mixture prior to ignition.   The exhaust stroke pushes the burnt gases out the exhaust. The
